Duties

  • Act as the on-site civil authority supporting the Lead Project Engineering.
  • Collaborate with EPC/EPCM contractors and subcontractors to manage the civil and structural scope, ensuring deliverables meet design specifications, timelines, safely and cost efficiency.
  • Review civil drawings, IFC documentation, and construction methodologies.
  • Oversee civil and structural construction including earthworks, concrete foundations, plinths, bunds, drainage, and steel structures.
  • Lead civil and structural design activities, including foundations, earthworks, steel, concrete, retaining walls, drainage, roads, and buildings. Review and approve designs, drawings, and calculations to ensure compliance with project requirements and safety standards
  • Coordinate civil works sequencing to support mechanical and electrical installation schedules.
  • Manage civil punch lists and ensure timely handover to downstream disciplines.
  • Provide civil progress reporting and technical input into project controls.
  • Review contractor performance regularly, addressing any issues related to quality, safety, or schedule to maintain project continuity.
  • Provide regular progress reports to senior management, covering civil and structural work status, milestones, risks, and corrective actions. Maintain accurate project documentation, including as-built drawings and certifications.
  • Ensure final handover documentation is complete, with all civil and structural work properly recorded for operations and maintenance.
  • Any other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Site-based construction management experience essential.
  • Strong understanding of foundations for heavy equipment and process plant structures.
  • Minimum of 10 years in civil and structural engineering, with at least 5 years in a senior project engineering role, preferably in large-scale industrial or infrastructure projects (e.g., mining, power, minerals processing plants).
  • Proven experience managing civil and structural engineering efforts from Feasibility Study (FS) through Commissioning and operational handover.
  • Expertise in the design, construction, and commissioning of foundations, steel structures, earthworks, drainage, and related infrastructure.
  • Expertise in structural design and analysis software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, STAAD Pro, SAP2000, ETABS, Civil 3D).
  • In-depth understanding of relevant local and international standards (e.g., ANSI, AISC, Eurocode, ISO, or similar).
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Primavera, MS Project) and budgeting tools.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with experience in managing multidisciplinary teams, mentoring junior engineers, and liaising with contractors and clients.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare detailed reports, manage stakeholder expectations, and effectively coordinate across teams and disciplines.
  • Ability to manage multiple work streams, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to safety, quality, and environmental compliance.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Professional Engineering license (STRI, etc.) or equivalent is preferred.
  • Project management, construction, supervisory, health, safety, and environmental certifications (e.g., PMP, OSHA, ISO 14001, HAZOP, POM, POU, K3) are a plus.
  • Ability to demonstrate awareness of company safety and environmental policies and practices.
