Duties

  • Work in accordance with HSE guidelines to ensure all activities are conducted safely and follow site and exploration SOPs;
  • Assist Senior and Project Geologist to complete field mapping, sampling and survey programs while learning correct exploration methods;
  • Checking new targets from previous and current exploration program information;
  • Management and interpretation of geological data, overseeing drilling operations and ensuring adherence to high standards in data collection and management, undertaking geological logging and sampling;
  • Manage drill site setup and rig configuration as planned, ensuring adherence to established protocols. Attend regular operational meetings, validate borehole camera surveys and supervise drilling contractors, core crew and field assistants to ensure adherence to work instructions and provision of reliable data;
  • Supervise and assist with core/chip drill sampling to maintain the integrity of data collected, avoid contamination and errors;
  • Maintain up-to-date logging and assay results on drill cross sections, accurately determine sample intervals, and ensure timely delivery of core data to databases;
  • Core field duties include all aspects of the field assistant role, i.e. drill core marking, geotechnical logging, and geological logging (percussion and core drilling);
  • Create drill cross sections and interpretations to identify lithology, alteration, and mineralization patterns, which contribute to target drilling decisions and subsequent reports;
  • Ensure all documentation, maps, tables, images, and logs are accurate, contain all relevant information, are distributed in a timely manner, and are archived in geological databases and hard copies;
  • Assist Senior and Project Geologist to complete weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual geological reports;
  • Acquire a basic understanding of QAQC programs for drilling, and geochemical sampling and testing programs;
  • Other assignments that may be given.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor's degree in Geology;
  2. Minimum 3 - 5 years of experience in exploration/development of precious metal mineralization/hydrothermal base metal mineralization;
  3. Able to operate & maintain geological tools such as compass, clinometer, GPS, etc;
  4. Understand rock identification, alteration and mineralization style, and basic structural geology;
  5. Proficient in using MS. Office, QGIS, Micromine, Arcgis or Mapinfo;
  6. Proficient in mapping and sampling methods;
  7. Good communication skills, fluent in English both oral and written;
  8. Posses driver's license A & POP will be a plus;
  9. Able and ready to work long hours outdoors, in the core yard, in the field, and in the office;
  10. Able to demonstrate awareness of work safety and the environment.
