Duties

  • Assist in designing and specifying instrumentation and control systems for plant expansion, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
  • Coordinate between the internal team and EPCM contractors, supporting design, delivery, and troubleshooting.
  • Review and approve key deliverables and support integration of PLC, SCADA, DCS, and instrumentation for optimization and reliability.
  • Coordinate instrumentation and process control activities, ensuring integration with mechanical, electrical, and process teams.
  • Monitor costs and manage risks for instrumentation and control systems, ensuring on-time delivery within budget, quality, and safety.
  • Coordinate with suppliers for timely delivery, inspection, and installation of equipment, ensuring compliance with specifications and standards.
  • Manage the project schedule for instrumentation and control systems, ensuring milestones are met.
  • Provide on-site support during installation and commissioning, overseeing wiring, calibration, integration, and troubleshooting to ensure systems meet design specs, safety standards, and automation requirements.
  • Ensure the creation and maintenance of project documentation for instrumentation and control systems, including design changes, test results, and commissioning reports, while providing regular progress updates to management and stakeholders.
  • Any other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related field.
  • Site-based construction management experience essential.
  • Minimum 10 years in instrumentation and process control for mining plants. Skilled in managing projects from Feasibility to Commissioning, with expertise in control systems and coordination with contractors.
  • Experienced in designing instrumentation and control system layouts (P&IDs, loop diagrams) and programming PLC, HMI, and SCADA, with expertise in control systems (DCS, PLCs, SCADA, SIS) and knowledge of industrial protocols (HART, Modbus, Profibus).
  • Expert in APC techniques (MPC) and optimizing strategies, with advanced knowledge of control systems software (Honeywell, Siemens, Emerson DeltaV, Yokogawa, Rockwell Automation).
  • Skilled in preparing project documents for Electrical, Instrumentation, and Control Systems, including MTO, BOQ, BOM, Datasheets, Load List, System Analysis, I/O List, Specs, ITP, SAT, FAT, and Manuals.
  • Skilled in identifying and resolving complex issues in instrumentation, control systems, and process flows.
  • Skilled in analyzing system failures and inefficiencies using techniques like FTA or FMEA, and proficient in process data analysis and optimization using tools like MATLAB, AspenTech or similar.
  • Leading instrumentation and control systems projects, ensuring budget, schedule, and safety compliance, while managing vendor and contractor relationships for smooth execution.
  • Managing technical documentation for designs, configurations, and test plans, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Knowledgeable in industry standards (IEC, ISA-88, ISA-95, IEC 61511, ATEX) and process safety management (PSM) principles, including SIL ratings and SIS design.
  • Familiar with process control requirements in industries like minerals processing, chemicals, and power generation.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Eplan, and simulation software for control systems and process modeling.
  • Experienced in leading teams, ensuring clear communication, smooth project execution, and mentoring junior engineers.
  • Experienced in working with clients, management, and teams for successful project delivery.
  • Control Systems Technician (CCST), Certified Automation Professional (CAP), Functional Safety Certification, etc.
  • Relevant electrical safety certifications (e.g., High Voltage Safety, Arc Flash, etc.) are advantageous.
  • Professional Engineering license (STRI, etc.) or equivalent is preferred.
  • Project management, supervisory, health, safety, and environmental certifications (e.g., PMP, ISO 14001, HAZOP, POM, POU, K3 Electrical/General) are a plus.
  • Ability to demonstrate awareness of company safety and environmental policies and practices.
