Duties
Lead and oversee mining operations: Manage daily mining activities to ensure safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible gold extraction.
Develop and execute mining strategies: Support the formulation and implementation of both short- and long-term strategies to optimize resources, improve productivity, and ensure sustainability.
Ensure safety compliance: Uphold high safety standards for all personnel and operations in accordance with company policies and industry regulations.
Cross-department collaboration: Maintain strong coordination with Mine Technical Services, Geology, Processing, and other departments to ensure operational alignment.
Team leadership: Supervise and develop the operational team to achieve high performance, strong coordination, and professional growth.
Contractor management: Oversee daily activities of contractors to ensure performance meets company standards in safety and production. Drive continuous improvement to enhance contractor efficiency and capability.
Budget and resource management: Prepare and manage operational budgets, ensuring resources are utilized efficiently and projects are completed within scope, budget, and schedule.
Monitor operational progress: Track mining progress, identify potential issues, and ensure adherence to targets and timelines.
Stakeholder engagement: Liaise with government agencies, local communities, and suppliers to maintain smooth operations and positive relationships.
Reporting: Prepare detailed reports on mine performance, operational challenges, financial results, and environmental impacts for senior management.
Regulatory compliance: Ensure all mining activities comply with applicable local, state, and federal laws and environmental standards.
Representation: Represent the company in meetings, industry events, and forums with external stakeholders.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Minimum 8 years of experience in mining operations, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial position; experience in gold mining is highly preferred.
Proven leadership and project management experience with a strong focus on safety, productivity, and team performance.
Deep understanding of mining regulations, safety, and environmental standards.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with government, communities, and contractors.
Proficient in mining and project management software (e.g., MineSight, AutoCAD, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong background in budgeting, resource allocation, and team supervision.
Capable of problem-solving and decision-making in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Demonstrated awareness and commitment to corporate safety and environmental standards.
